Who are we

At Girl Effect, we believe in the power of media and technology to transform lives. As a global non-profit, we create spaces where young people can access the knowledge, support, and confidence they need to make informed choices about their health, relationships, and future.

In South Africa, our work comes to life through two innovative youth-focused programs:

✨ JiK’iZinto—a vibrant platform offering young people relatable, judgment-free content on sexual and reproductive health (SRH), relationships, and mental well-being. It’s real talk, real support, and real impact.

🤖 Big Sis—an AI-powered chatbot with a big heart and even bigger knowledge! She’s here to offer guidance, answer sensitive questions, and connect young people with trusted health resources—anytime, anywhere.

Together, JiK’iZinto and Big Sis create a dynamic, digital support system—helping young people navigate life’s big moments with clarity and confidence.

• Do you want to be part of the solutions to issues affecting young people?"
• Would you like to share your ideas and influence projects designed for youth?
• Are you willing to commit 12 hours per month for 12 months to provide advice and share your experiences on youth-related issues in South Africa?

If you answered YES, then YOU may be who we’re looking for!

📢JiK’iZinto is seeking passionate young South Africans (ages 18-24) who will volunteer and advise us in shaping our youth-focused programs.

We encourage you to apply if you're eager to make a difference, share ideas, and create meaningful change.

📌 Requirements:

Own a smartphone or feature phone with steady internet access

• Good level of digital literacy, including: providing feedback online including WhatsApp, online documents, and virtual meetings.
• Confident in sharing opinions to shape our youth-focused programs
• Knowledgeable or interested in SRHR, mental well-being, or economic empowerment
• Occasional travel may be required as part of this work
