“1.1 million people who know their status are not receiving care.” That’s what Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi said. There are many reasons why people do not take up treatment. There’s no denying that fear of the stigma attached to living with HIV. Which is why it is essential no one walks the journey post diagnosis alone.

There are young people who are sexually active who may never have been tested before. There are those who may have tested a few times. The young people who are not receiving care run the risk of reinfection, which will only deteriorate their health faster. The truth is making informed decisions is the greatest gift to the self.

Taking up treatment not only helps cement health for the infected but it also grants those living with HIV adjacent medical care.By starting treatment, you're not just taking care of yourself—you're making a huge impact on our communities. You can access treatment at the local clinic or at partner organisations. Big Sis on Moya can help. Reach out for free, private, and confidential guidance from a real-life counsellor on Moya or Whatsapp – 060 074 7837 Or call the Big Sis Helpline Mahala': 0800 12 84 55

Let’s break the stigma, look out for each other, and make wellness the trend that never goes out of style.

Close The Gap.
