Not too long ago, the internet was a sea of Purple profile pictures, flooded with millions of stories about the horrors of #GBV. There was a #NationalShutdown. The president himself had to speak on it at the #G20 and ended up declaring GBV a crisis.
People, women, huns from all walks of life had had just about enough of the headlines and ever-rising statistics on the number of children and women hurt or worse 💔
Waitse GBV ena le di sign. A lot of those we know, like a partner that's sooo jealous that you're scared to even turn your head and glance at something else, never mind someone else. The evidence is left on a bruised body. Things like that we know and di wrong. Some of them are so wrong they are criminal.
What about the GBV that leaves no physical evidence? The sort that breaks your heart and leaves no obvious evidence. The kind that crushes your spirit but dololo ukopha?
Calling you names, talking down to you and mocking your dreams or what you love is abusive. Controlling the phone, controlling where you go, the money? 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 THAT IS GBV.
You're not imagining things, you're not being difficult for pointing it out. Relationships are the vibe we choose that should choose us back. They should be our cosy, safe space.
If you're feeling these things in your own relationship rn & want out, reach out. Help is closer than you think. 💜
