Tempted To Close The Curtains and Sleep All Day Every Day? How To Rest Without Resisting Reality

Often when the task ahead feels too great, we get overwhelmed, so we procrastinate or admit defeat before we've even begun. That stuff feels heavy, really, really heavy. The thoughts that follow the feeling don't help much either, “Mxm, ku ya fana mos. I'm not good enough.”

The only thing that's certain at that point is that the bed is comfy, cozy, and accepts you no matter what the world feels like about you. So you sleep. Jonga sana, ulife utricky - we all need a break every so often.

Sleep has many great benefits, escapism isn't one of them. When you wake up, you still gotta handle business - whatever that business- or it will handle you.

What is driving your need to sleep all the time? Feeling inadequate is self doubt and maybe that's because you were never empowered to make your own choices, so you're scared of making the wrong one.

Anger tells us that something wrong happened, that something went against your will and denied you agency. Maybe you made a choice and it was disregarded and dismissed and now you have absolutely no desire to engage with a reality you explicitly did not want.

Both of those scenarios are a lot to deal with and would knock the air out of anyone's wings. Both of those scenarios require an exit strategy with 3 points- immediate, short-term and long term.

Start at the end- long term, where do you want to see yourself? What steps can you take right now to help you get there? Which ones can you do right now? When you know where you want to get to and you start doing what you can right now to get there, you will find that the middle both reveals and works itself out- to get you to your long term goal.

So yes, get comfy, get cosy, rest, power up- cos your dream life needs all of your energy.
