Kau, imagine you woke up tomorrow and all the insects were bigger than you. All the bugs and critters, all the worms and flesh eaters: bigger than you
Sometimes you’re just trying to get through the day — grabbing food, minding your business — and suddenly a beetle flies at you, a dragonfly starts circling, or a praying mantis appears staring you down with those scary little arms.
It's giving Fear Factor meets Survivor and you have no allies! Even the friendly bugs sound like they’re having secret meetings in a language you’ll never crack. And then you start thinking… what if all that buzzing and wing-flapping is them saying, “we’ll get him later”?
What would safety feel like for you in this big, busy world? Maybe it’s like if the bugs weren’t buzzing past your face every two seconds — everything would feel a little calmer. Or like when you cross at the traffic lights and all the cars actually stop for you. They could run you over, but for that moment, they pause.
Or maybe safety feels like having a bridge over a crazy highway — a way to move without getting hurt. I’m sure you could think of even more examples.
Huns feel the world isn’t safe enough for them to live in. The alarming statistics prove this to be true. For every case of abuse, GBV or sexual assault reported, there are thousands more that never make it to the police station. So the danger is far more widespread and devastating.
The huns aren’t being dramatic, or talking nje. Our world isn’t always safe, but in a society built by people who can choose to do better, we all have a role to play in making sure huns feel protected and supported. Not just abakini, but all of them.
So what does safety look like to you jita? If you were in a different country and your little sister was left all alone, what kind of ecosystem do you want her walking through? All the huns deserve that.
