My Vibe, My Vision

I grew up in the vibrant streets of Makhanda, surrounded by stories that breathed life into every corner of my community. Whether shared around a fire, whispered between friends, or boldly declared on stage, storytelling was not just entertainment—it was survival, connection, and identity. These moments planted a seed in me, one that has grown into a lifelong passion for telling stories that matter.

My journey led me to Rhodes University, where I immersed myself in the world of drama. Here, I learned the craft of acting, directing, and stage management, but more importantly, I discovered the depth and richness of African narratives. I’ve played roles that brought history to life, and I’ve written and directed pieces that challenged the status quo. In every performance, I aim to honour the voices of those who have been overlooked and silenced.

My vibe is raw and authentic, rooted in the truth of everyday experiences. I believe that storytelling is a dance between the past and the future, where we honour where we’ve been and imagine where we’re going. Whether I’m performing for an audience, teaching Creative Arts to students, or simply listening to the stories of others, my energy is centred on creating spaces where stories can thrive.

My vision is to use storytelling to build bridges. I want to tell stories that heal wounds, celebrate culture, and challenge perceptions. I see a world where stories aren’t just heard but felt—where they move us to think differently, act boldly, and connect deeply. Joining JiK'iZinto would be a step towards realising this vision, a chance to amplify voices that need to be heard and to be part of a movement that values the richness of our collective humanity.

My story is just one among many, but it’s a story that’s always seeking new ways to connect, inspire, and transform. This is the power of storytelling, and this is the heart of my journey.
